MEET MS. PETSOS

Hello! My name is Elena Petsos and I have been an adolescent English teacher for fourteen years. I have worked both in the traditional classroom and as an online teacher. I started working virtually three years ago and it complements my role as a full-time mother. It also allowed me to fully experience teaching during the time of a pandemic. I am extremely passionate about teaching, and it is truly a large part of my identity. I became a teacher to help others learn as I was lucky enough to have a close mentor as a student. Being a student wasn’t always easy for me, so I want to help others, especially during this unprecedented time in our lives. I believe in “paying it forward.”

Family is extremely important to me and I know how much family plays a role in our learning. I am one of five children and we come from a big, Greek family. We are very close with each other, and we are lucky enough to have our 95-year-old Yia-Yia (grandmother) with us. My two-year-old son is named after my late grandfather, Stavros, which shows the strength of our family bond. 

Other than spending time with my family and teaching, I enjoy going for walks with my son and our yellow Labrador, Ellie. During the nicer months, I like to take care of my garden as well. Since another one of the most significant passions in my life is cooking, I am then able to use the vegetables from my garden in many yummy recipes.
